MILITARY BACKGROUND
Rose Vela was born at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Her father, a retired senior master sergeant, taught her early on the value of hard work and of service to God and country.
Rose is proud of her military heritage and her family’s long service to the United States. It taught her the right values, the right beliefs and provided her with the ability to understand the importance of giving of yourself to protect the freedoms we enjoy in Texas and the United States
A LETTER FROM ROSE
Dear Friends,
I grew up in a military family. My family’s military history dates back to World War I. Members of my family have served this country in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the first Gulf War and in Desert Storm.
My father proudly served this country in the Vietnam War and would tell us stories aboutAmericans who were dying to defend our constitution.
Today, Americans are still losing their life to protect a Constitution that promotes a judiciary that is independent, a judiciary that follows the law and a judiciary that is notinfluenced by who judges know.
As a former trial judge and current Appellate Justice, I have the experience to be on the Texas Supreme Court. I have imposed the ultimate punishment and sentenced many people to life in prison. I have presided over dozens of complex civil matters. I have also had the privilege of helping to create new families by presiding over adoptions and witnessed first-hand the role of the judiciary in promoting family life.
I am asking for your vote and promise you that as a member of the Texas Supreme Court I will be a Justice with integrity, who strives to be fair and applies the law equally to all people.
